Areas of Practice
Mark H. Rettig is a shareholder with Day Rettig Martin, P.C. practicing in the areas of family and domestic relations law, probate and estate planning, real estate, litigation (jury and non-jury), and in matters dealing with the creation, drafting, and qualification of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO’s). He is also the assistant corporate counsel for the Cities of Marion, Iowa and Robins, Iowa.
Mark received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1973, majoring in history and political science. He graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1976, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the Iowa Law Review from 1975 to 1976.
Mark is a member of the Linn County Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association [Family Law & Juvenile Law section; Probate, Trust & Estate Planning section], and the American Bar Association [Family Law section]. Mark is licensed to practice and has appeared before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals of the United States (admitted in 1978), the United States District Courts for both the Northern (admitted in 1976) and Southern (admitted in 1982) Districts of Iowa, and in the Courts of the State of Iowa (admitted in 1976).
Mark gains satisfaction from having the opportunity to help people, in addition to the mental stimulation that the legal profession provides. Growing up in the Amana Colonies of Iowa, Mark has a passion and respect for history, especially that of the Amana Colonies. He is a member of the Amana Heritage Society and the Amana Church Society. He is also a member of the Life Loyal member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
