Areas of Practice
John Sexton is an attorney at Day Rettig Martin, P.C. focusing on employee benefits, estate planning, creditor collection remedies, bankruptcy, and business law. He provides advice on selecting an entity structure that fits clients’ needs and guides them through the complexities and aspects unique to running a partnership, limited liability company, or S corporation.
In 2014, John graduated magna cum laude from Wartburg College with a B.A. in accounting and business administration with a concentration in finance. He was a four-year starter on the golf team and a member of the Iowa Conference All-Academic Team. John earned his J.D. in 2017 from Wake Forest University School of Law. He participated in the Business Clinic at Wake Forest where he drafted employment contracts, registered trademarks, advised investment clubs, and structured for-profit entities and nonprofit corporations.
Sports consume much of his time outside of the office. John continues to golf and play basketball and is an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He was a youth basketball coach throughout his time at law school, earning the coach of the year in 2017 as his team won the championship.
